Please help setting local network

Hello, friends,
I am pretty new in some directions of Linux, and believe that my following question would be a piece of cake for You (not as the previous).
I have a local network in my lab, in which there are 2 windows xp stations and 2 linux stations, one of them is Fedora Core 1, and the second Red Hat 9. I have a local network, which works in the following way: I have a connection in both sides between the windows stations, I see shared directories in windows stations from the Fedora, using command smb://ip. I can print from the fedora (printer is connected to a windows station). I didn't succeed to connect to the printer from red hat, and I cannot see shared directories in windows from it (more exactly sometimes I can see them, but cannot access). I have no connections between the two linux stations, even not sure if it is possible to share directories in linux.
So as You can see, I have no knowledge in that issue, but if it is not a task that requires a lot of learning, please help me with it. The most urgent is to make direct connection between red hat and fedora, and to see shared directories in windows from the red hat. If it requires a lot of changing data we can make a conversation in msn. Please tell me if I should give more information or maybe to show some files.
Thanks in Advance,
Leonid

You should be able to browse windows shares with samba.
you can also mount folders between the two linux machines.
I'm not really shure what it is you want, so if you could be more spesific, it would help...

Dear dslboy,
The problem is I am not sure more specific in what direction.
As I mentioned I have 2 linux stations. I use Konqueror for windows shares. When I type the line smb://10.0.0.143 in the Konqueror, I get all the shared directories. But the problem is that when I try to access these directories it is done easily from the fedora station, but unfortunately, it just tries to read for a few minutes and then asks for some passwords, (I think there is a problem with samba cause I cannot configure printer from that computer as well - not really important for me right now).
You say I can mount folders between two linux machines. Could You please give me an example how can I do it, it is the most important for me.
Thanks a lot,
Leonid

Anybody?
Is it really such a hard question? Or is it too easy?
