please help a newb set up a router/firewall

Hi,

I have two NICs on my LINUX machine.

eth0 = connection to the internet, NIC ip xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

eth1 = connection to a hub. I'm trying to assign the ip 192.168.1.1 to this NIC (sometimes successfully I think)

I'm having a hard time trying to get my XP machine connected to the internet through my Linux machine. My cable modem connects to eth0. eth1 connects to my hub, and my XP machine connects to my hub. I've been using the mandrake control center / internet connection sharing, etc. I've tried using the iptables in a terminal but i'm a newb so i'm struggling. please help.

I am using Maindrake 9.1
