Please comment on: Linux Firewalls (3rd Edition)
I run a Gentoo Linux firewall and I was thinking of getting a reference text to 1.) help teach me a little bit more about IPTables 2.) To help harden my firewall a little more than it already is. After searching exhaustively through Amazon.com I've come across the following book:
Linux Firewalls (3rd Edition) by Steve Suehring, Robert Ziegler - ISBN 0672327716 Here are my questions: Is it a good text? Would you recommend it? Should I pay the extra money for the 3rd Edition or would the 2nd Edition be good enough? Please comment.. |
I have 1st edition which covers ipchains and 2nd edition which covers iptables. Both are very good. I refer to them often. But there are a few things lacking in edition 2 so maybe the 3rd edition has some of the newer features. I would recomend it. Only thing it can get confusing when it refers to command structure and using defined varibles from the beginning. But after a while one can just about remember the whole script in their head.
I will have to get that one on order. Brian1 |
