ping operation not permitted
 
when i ping to any ip address of lan , wan or even to localhost i am getting response

ping sendmg: operation not permitted,

i flushed all rules of iptables, but having same response, i am using fc4 and fc5 test2 getting same message. and also want to know what is problem with it. i disabled selinux.

Try it as root? Can you access the network through other means?
Check where your ping is with "which ping"...should be /usr/bin
Make sure that your permissions are set where users can execute it...

I've exactly the same problem... any solution ??

I've this problem after I update the kernel to 2.6.16-1.2069

It appears that IPtables, NAT, or any other firewall can be causing it
