Ping failed from Mandraketo w2k

Hello,

I want to set up a little network of 4 computers with the server running Mandrake 8.1 and the hosts running w2k pro.
I know that I have to configure Samba, but at first, I need the computers to ping each others and it don't want.

What's wrong ???

We need a little more information! What network cards are you using under Linux and have you configured them? What IP addresses are you using? You will need to get the network cards working first by loading modules into your kernel (or by recompiling [or both!]) then you'll need to give you network cards IP addresses. Once this is done and you have your cables inplace you should be able to ping.
