ping eth0
 
If I give this command the ping will reply ? What happens when I give this command ? If it replys does this mean the box is ready for connection to a netwok ?

what you do is: lets say you box is 1922.168.0.5
you would type: ping 192.168.0.5
If you get a reply, that means you are ready for connections

can smdy give me a cat of their ifcfg-eth from /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/.
