ping doesn't work on a new kernel

Hi all,
I have installed a new kernel on my PC, everything is OK. My etheret card is up (192.168.3.2). When I use my old kernel, I can ping the access point (192.168.3.1) which is directly connected, but with my new kernel (2.4.22) I can't.
The access point can send data on my PC so it should ping my PC.
What's the problem?
thx for u help

what i can understand is that u can send data from (192.168.3.1) to your linux box with ip (192.168.3.2) but u are unable to receive ping requests.

If what i wrote is correct then try the following edit a file /etc/sysctl.conf
and see i the following option is activated or been added and id so hash it out net.ipv4.icmp_echo_ignore_all=1

hope this works

I have found the problem.
With my new kernel eth0 and eth1 become eth1 and eth0. So ip are reversed and eth0 become 192.168.4.1.(eth1 on my other kernel)
I know that's a newbie problem...
I don't use eth1 currently.
I received information from my access point because no ip are needed for this step.
After 3 hours, I have found this fuc**** pbl.

Now an other question : what have I to do for eth0 be eth0 and eth1 be eth1?
My driver are compiled staticaly (not in modules!! otherwise I would change /etc/modles.conf)

I forgot : one card is on PCI (eth0 normally) and the other is on ISA (eth1 normally)

type the following cmd ifconfig eth0 adresss e.g ifconfig eth0 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx and the same for eth1.

This should work
