Ping doesn't work (but everything else does)

I have a network setup that is working fine and I have never had problems and (I think) I have always been able to ping things outside my network, but now for some reason I can't...

The internet and email works great, and I have tried to ping sites that are well known from within my intranet (small 7 computer network) to no avail, and these same sites I can ping from a PC outside my site no problem.

I know it has to do with DNS name resolution, but not sure why this is happening... (or how I can fix it)

Your "pings" are being blocked by a firewall somewhere. There is nothing wrong with your DNS if your internet applications are working correctly.

Try this...

traceroute google.com

or some similar external site. That will give you a good idea on how you can get with "ping" and beyond that, there is something blocking you.
