DHCP connects to comcast, but I cant ping anything

Ok,

I had my network setup correctly but went and screwed wiht some things in chkconfig and in my firewall script before leaving for vacation 2 weeks ago. Now I can(1/2 way) ping say www.yahoo.com(it resolves the name yahoo.com) but linux doesnt let any packets back into my box.
I am using iptables. I have tried iptables -F and other things, but I cant get any connection to my box.

Is iptables the only thing that controlls packets into my box, or is there some other process that controlls this?

Any help on iptables or other suggestions is appreciated.

ifconfig eth0 shows my valid IP address, so I can get out, but not back in to my box.

thanks

Did you make a backup of your firewall script before changing it?

Depending on what distro you're running you might have a GUI tool to reinstall the default firewall script to give you a starting point.

No I dont.

I have a question about chkconfig. Does it change when I use a different kernel release boot or is it independent of kernel?

Should I get packets if I do iptables -F? Basically flushing all my rules?

Well, I figured out the problem. My account at comcast had technical issues on thier end. I had to re-do my account registration. No linux issues were there.
