phantom nic
 

Hi,

I recently installed Mandrake 9.2 on a virgin system. I have a Netgear FA311 nic. This is being recognised. However there is a phatom nic, a via tech card, that is also being recognised. My MB has no onbard nic. I have been into set up to try and eliminate this phatom nic, but nothing shows up. I have run interactive set to try a disable this card, but to no avail.

Which files do I need to go into to delete this phantom nic?

The problem is both nic claim ownership of the same IP. If one is deleted will I then have Internet access or are there deeper problems?

I have another MB laying around, is my best bet to install this other one and then see what happens?

I would rather resolve this issue and learn something than just start over.
