periodic network unreachability after flashing netgear WGR614v8 with dd-wrt v24-sp2

I recently put dd-wrt v24-sp2 firmware on my router (Netgear WGR614v8). Now my network will become unavailable unpredictably every few hours for about 30 seconds. So far I have only detected the problem while my Mom streams audio or video on her ipad. My workstation is connected wirelessly to the router. I ran a ping from the workstation during one period of unavailability and ping google.com returned "connect: Network is unreachable" I was logged into my server at the same time and my ssh connection was not dropped. I have logging on with dd-wrt and nothing shows up in /tmp/var/log/messages.

I am at a loss as to how to isolate or diagnose this problem. Any suggestions, insights, solutions, or condolences would be greatly appreciated.

Do you turn on Syslogd service before checking DD_WRT logging.
