Pdc

I install SMB DNS and Web server.

I have Samba up and running.
ON the server I am looking to make it the Primary Domain Controller for this little test network.

I have assigned all Nics with 192.168.2.0-192.168.2.5 using a switch.

I would like the PDC (when its started DNS) to hand out IP addresses to Node that log on the Domain.

Any help would be great.

Are you sure this can be done? I thought giving away IP addresses is the job of a DHCP server...

This is correct I want to role them all up into one server though, is that possible with Linux ? I would think so, Linux is so robust.
Please correct me if I have been mislead.

If all the interfaces on your network are static (you assigned them) then you can't have the Linox box assign them dynamically. Samba or Bind (DNS) can not assign IP addresses. You need to run a DHCP program to assign IP's dynamically. If you only have 5 nodes on your LAN use static IP's.

Use dhcpd, it comes with all the distros that I know of. It can be configured with Webmin too.
