pctel hsp 56 in fedora core 1 refuses to work
Hello ,
I have fedora-core 1 kernel 2.4.22-1.2115.nptl and a pctel-hsp56 modem . I got the latest drivers from the limodems website for fedora core 1 . The installation went fine and detected my chipset as a PCT789. I loaded the modules with insmod -f pctel and insmod -f ptserial . /dev/ttyS15 Is also linked with /dev/modem Then when I start wvdial , i get "modem not responding" and when I pick up the handset of my phone at this point , my line dies , and i have to restart my PC to get the dial tone back. I have no kppp installed. And there is no file like wvdial.conf.When I use wvdialconf ,i get negative results for all the query. Now what do I do to connect to net via dial up ? Thanks Sign Codes |
Hi there
try using minicom to check whether the modem is responding. Although I have successfully used the Jan's pctel drivers, the only problem I faced is that I can get the modem dial out and connect just once. If I disconnect and try again, the system would freeze. |
