PCMCIA Xircom and Mandrake 9.1
Alright I've been having some trouble getting my ethernet card to work. Here are the details:
I'm running it on my Compaq Armada E500 laptop, using Mandrake 9.1 The card is a Xircom RealPort RBE-100 10-100 PCMCIA CardBus It seems to recognize the card's existance fine, I get a beep when i remove it, it shows the info in control center.etc. It's just when I select the tulip driver and such it ends up saying it can't detect it on my machine. Ifconfig eth0 shows: eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:10:A4:B6:13:EC UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:100 RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b) Interrupt:11 Base address:0x4400 The info center says: Vendor: Xircom Bus: PCI Bus identification: 115d:3:115d:181 Location on the bus: 2:0:0 Description: Cardbus Ethernet 10/100 Module: xircom_tulip_cb Media class: NETWORK_ETHERNET -------------------- Any help would be greatly appreciated! I haven't installed the pcmcia_core yet, will I have to do that for sure? It seems a bit over my head since I just started with linux last week. Can anyone give me any hints at all as to what I have to do to get the card working?
