Partition light on hub...whats this mean???
I'm having a problem getting one of my machines to access the network. I suspected a cable problem but a continuity check on the cable tells me all is good. Problem is when I try to use it I get nothing, I run a temp cable and it hooks right up. Now..when I use the suspected cable, the light on the hub for that port blinks. The legend on the hub says blinking light=Partition. What exactly does that mean?

That was pretty much what I thought, but I have checked both ends and they are both wired the same. I also ran a continuity check pin for pin and it checks out good. Problem is that this is the cable that runs from my patch bay through the walls to another office and would be a bear to replace. Looks like I'm headed that direction though. Thanks.
Well, if the temp cable works, and it wiring compares equally to the existing cable, you are up for new connectors each end
or the whole cable needs to suspect...
I have a cheapy cable tester to shorten these problems...
Finds lots of cables that have been badly kinked or twisted in the run...
