Packet filtering by keyword

Hi guys, first of all thanks for anyone that takes the time to read and possibly help me with this.

Ive been stuck for a few weeks now with a packet filtering question, ive spend several days search everywhere but cant really find an answer.

Im looking to drop a specific set of packets based on key words. the key words will most likely be in the packed data, and in plain text. Both incoming and outgoing packets with the keyword should be blocked.

Ive tried l7 filter on my router, which seemed a faster solution to test rather than setting up a linux box to do it. But it seems to need a protocol to function correctly. Id rather just have the packets with the keywords eliminated across the board

Once again, thanks for any input.

Without details Snort(-inline?) is faster than Netfilter-based packet content filtering, IIRC.
