Packet filtered can't ping

Have been working with smoothwall for th past couple of months and it was my first experience with linux.
Wow absolutly mind blowing... mised the days of actually having to type.
Sat infront of my PC two days ago and suddenly smoothwall stopped allowing me to gain access to the internet.
With my limited knowledge of linux I discovered
On ping returns: From 10.128.116.1 packet filtered
on ifconfig: A new one has appeared called lo info next to it states
link encap: local loopback
inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask: 255.0.0.0
So it is blocking every thing outwards...
The conneciton to the DNS works just fine though..
It will change the friendly name into an IP
Anyone know where I should be going from here...
Is there a way of dropping this Lo loopback?

lo is not something you want to get rid of. And usually it's there from the start to begin with. I doubt that's what's causing those packets to be filtered. Sounds more like some rules got modified or dropped. I'd double check the rules you are using to allow or reject packets.
Never used smoothwall so I can't give you instructions specific to that.

Shes all working fine... Good of you to help me out on this one
