Outgoing FTP packets seem to hang, or die
When trying to ftp out from the server itself - connecting is impossible. When I connect via a client on my box, it connects, but uploading or downloading files, sometimes takes upto a minute before the actual transfer will begin. Any ideas on how I can check rules for port 21?

try usinig tcpdump or ethereal to monitor your ftp connection.

www.ethereal.com. tcpdump is part of most linux distros. u can get it at www.tcpdump.org.
