Well, are you seeing any errors on the Linux box? And the fact that your Windows box can do it, indicates a problem on the Mac...have you checked any Mac resources for an answer?

What type of error would I find and where do I look for them on my Linux box?

On the mac resources it talks about mounting the system, however, what I don't know what to do is, I know the systems IP, the problem is, if I am to mount its name and location, in what order do I mount a network drive/folder? (\\system name\folder name or am I wrong here) Also, in windows, when I click on the properties of the system, and I see its location (\\DEBIANBOX\networkfolder), is that the mounting address for my mac as well?

On your linux box, you'd see the messages in your system logs, or in your samba logs. Mine are under /var/log/samba and /var/log/messages, but your system may be different.

And as far as what you do on the Mac....no idea, which is why I suggested a Mac forum somewhere. If the problem was on your Linux box, we could help, but it sounds Mac related. Don't know if Mac's can mount Windows/Samba shares, and if so, how to do it.

How are you mounting it?

Are you using "Command k"

Sometimes you need to specify the mount like this... "smb://<ip address>"

I used to be able to connect them. I had to click a box on the Linux setting for connecting. I don't remember what it was though.

samba share > permissions

check your permissions for the folder where your user files are.

Yes, to connect to osx. ya gotta get your permissions correct for the folder on the linux box. I think that's the key issue.
