OSX.2 cannot connect to Samba

My Samba network is working perfectly, but I just tried to connect an OSX.2 box and it kicked me out with Error -43. As far as I can make out it's some error to do with finding or mounting the file/folder. Do I need something special in my smb.conf to get Macs to connect?

Not sure I can help - I'm struggling with the same thing, but here goes with a few suggestions anyway, in the hope that someone else will step in and help us both.

1. Assume you're running KDE - go to Control Centre, Internet and Network. Local Network Browsing and put in your user name, password and workgroup. Also check you're sharing files in the File Sharing section.

2. Male sure Samba server (as well as client) is installed. This should at least enable you to see the Linux machine from the Mac - do Apple + K to get the connection dialog box and type in the ip address of the Linux box. You should get a password dialog- type in your linux password.

3. Might also be worth checking that you have some files shared - navigate to the home directory and right click on the users folders, then go to share.

(the above applies to Suse 9.1 - you don't give any distro details. I also assume have OS X 10.2.0, try updating to 10.2.8 - should be a normal Apple update though it may take some time to d/l. I think it has some samba improvements over 10.2.0)

The first, cheapest and easiest test is to check the physical connection with ping, and to disable the mac firewall. Then start fiddling with the software side of things.
