Oplocks and locks in Samba
Is there a way to lock a file for editing in Samba?
I work for a engineering firm that doesnt use autocad, they want to set up a file server as a central repository for their drawings. What they would like is to have the drawings "locked" while someone is editing. That way there arn't several versions of the same drawing on many machines. CVS is a little too much for 5 people--one at a time use would be perfect. Anyone have any thoughts on how to do this? Thanks :) |

This article is where I started :) hehe
In the article, all but strict locking is on by default. Will strict locking create what I need? Does anyone have experience with this? In the diagram, with the nt4 client, what causes the nt4 client to ask for a lock? Thats the part I have a hard time with. confused  Thanks |
