Operating Times Out with DI-524 and WLI-TX4-G54HP

I'm trying to experiment with accessing web pages via a virtual server from outside my router. However, the operaion always seems to time out, and this even holds true with the remote management interface.

This router is inside the network, so remote management is safe. I know it must either be the router or the client if the request times out at that point.

The WAN of the DI-524 is connected to a Buffalo Bridge. That is connected wirelessly to another router connected so it behaves as an access point to the other router which is connected to the cable modem. That's how Internet works. We've got 2 routers so that we have 2 subnets.

So from inside, I'd access the server via the IP address. From outside I must access it with a virtual server via the router's IP address, which forwards it to the real server (except for remote management). Remote management and my server I'm testing it with both don't work.

How do I fix it? If I can't, is it because of the router? If that's true, then what router would I get to make this work? Or is the problem that wireless will always be too slow maybe? I'm hoping not on the last one.

I don't technically need this right away, but will soon in the future, as this is an inside issue. I don't really want to block out everything from outside a part of our own network, but I do want to be selective on what I allow the router to do from inside to outside of that area.
