I'd like to see a comparison of these as well.

If someone who knows about each package would post links to feature details I'll create a comparison table. (Yes, I could ferret these details myself, but I don't know enough
about this to avoid taking a long time to discover the details.)

Bonne chance,

I cannot provide you with a complete list, but from experience dd-wrt is much better for my uses. You should probably look at the project websites for a list of features for each. They are significantly different in both functionality and features.

Agreed. I'm asking for someone who understand each of the packages -- openWRT, DD-WRT,
Tomato, whatever -- to post a link to the relevant list of features.

Willing to help with a small bucket of round-to-its,

In the future, one can check out the main page of the WikiDevi website where one can enter the exact model number of one's router for useful firmware info.

Just as a relevant example, when one enters "D-Link DIR-300" into the top Search field of this WikiDevi page (again, https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Main_Page), one gets hits for different revisions of the D-Link DIR-300.
Following the link for the D-Link DIR-300 rev A1, one can see that this router can support both DD-WRT and OpenWrt firmware. Other revisions of the DIR-300 router are listed at the bottom, as well.

----

Other useful 3rd party router firmware links are below.

DD-WRT
The main DD-WRT site, http://www.dd-wrt.com
The popular Peacock Thread-FAQ page, http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=51486
Known stable DD-WRT firmware meta-link, ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/stable/dd-wrt.v24%20SP1/Consumer/
Updated DD-WRT Beta firmware meta-link, ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/

OpenWrt
The main OpenWrt site, https://openwrt.org/
OpenWrt firmware downloads site, http://downloads.openwrt.org/
Note: As of this writing, the updated OpenWrt firmware revision Chaos Calmer 15.05 was recently released last month.

Tomato and Tomato Modifications
The main Tomato Polar Cloud site with link to stock firmware, http://polarcloud.com/
Tomato Wikibooks link, https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Tomato_Firmware
Modified TomatoUSB distributions
(overlapping lists)

Hope that this can still help others!
