Check your server error log to see if it gives you more information.

It probably won't try to spell check if there is nothing to do.

It would seem odd that no error messages are logged if you get a 500 server error message. What is you log level set to?

Find you where error_log is:
fin / -name "error_log"

Then generate the error again and post the output of:
tail /path/to/error_log
