i used to be able to ssh to a server at university ... and then for some reason i started getting this message Quote:
it only happens with this server and other servers on same network. i still can ssh to another server on a different network with no problem. please, some help thanx i am using kubuntu 8.04 on T42 thinkpad and same happens with sftp |
You identified the problem yourself....

SFTP and SSH both use port 22. Can you telnet/FTP, or use any other protocol to that server to test? |

i am using dhcp on wireless ftp command ftp: connect: Connection refused telnet telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused i am using guarddog for fireall i dont remember exactly how i caused this problem. it was too late last night and i think i was trying to sftp my folders using dolphin file browser (comes with kde on kubuntu) and then i started getting this problem (i think when i typed the wrong login or server information by mistake) anyways .... just reset the modem/router and it works fine now. probably was the modem firewall. thanx for the tip. i had a hunch i needed to reset the modem but was too lazy to get off my butt and walk to the modem and do it ... so i chose to waste 10 hours trying resolve the problem ... not the first time i make bad choices :) |
