openldap Problem


Dear all,

Im using open ldap server for authentaction,our clients are (suse 10
and fedora 3,) and conneting to ladp server.

In the cient when there is no network connection or ldap server down
im not abel to login as any local user.

in my nsswitch.conf
passwd : files ldap
group : files ldap

how to do login as local root user in the client when case of server
down or no network connection

could any body please help me how to do this.

Is it possible offline login from client.

You will be able to login as root it just seems like it is taking forever for nsswitch to look elsewere for the info. You will have to read up on nsswitch.conf, but off the top of my head i believe doing something along the lines of:

passwd: ldap [UNAVAIL=continue] files
group: ldap [UNAVAIL=continue] files

will tell nsswitch to move on and look at the files for the info if the ldap is not running.

Thanks for reply, i using suse 10 and tried this,but still i having the same problem,is it there any other way to do this,please to the need ful
