openLDAP orginal user/password?


hi there,

i'm trying to get openLDAP + phpldapadmin going together

i've just installed a fresh copy of fedora core 4 with Openldap and phpldapadmin and now going to the phpldapadmin site and it asked me for
a 'Login DN' and 'password' how can i find out what my user password/DB is or how can i add a user so i can Authenticate with phpldapadmin?

If it's anything like FC3, the following commands should give you the root dn and password:

grep root /etc/openldap/slapd.conf

If the roopw contains something at the beginning like {SSHA} or {crypt}, that means the password is encrypted. You can either replace it with a plaintext password [not recommended] or by encrypting a new one with:

slappasswd -s newpassword

and copying that one in. Once you have that set, you should run [replacing admindn with your actual admin DN]:

ldappasswd -x -D 'admindn' -a newpassword -s newpassword
