Unhappy Only IP numbers recognised

I have a problem accessing the net from a laptop connected to my lan. I can get to any web page but only by entering the ip number. If i enter name url into the address bar, i always get this message in a dialog box:

' ALERT [url name] could not be found. Please check the name and try again'

This is my set up:

PC with two ethernet cards. eth0 is the internal lan card with static address. eth1 is connected to the cable modem and has a DHCP address assigned.

I figure that this problem is DNS - but where have i got to change values? Do i need to set up anything special file on my laptop?

Thanks

Yup you need to setup linux as dns client see by editing /etc/resolv.conf file http://www.cyberciti.biz/nixcraft/vi...ns-client.html

Hope this helps
