onboard lan problems (tiger tyan mpx s2466)
Hi.
I've recently upgraded my motherboard to one with onboard lan (tyan tiger mpx) but am having problems configuring the network (via debian installer) with it.
previously I used a standard dlink 10baseT card with which the network configuration goes through painlessley (DHCP).
with the onboard lan card (3C905C 3COM controller) I am able to load the appropriate module successfully (I *think* it's the correct one anyway- from the debian installer menu its something like 3c90x series "boomerang".. something something) but proceeding to configure DHCP times out.
configuring networks is not something I've had to do before (other than with a handy installer like this debian one) and I'm at a bit of a loss.
if some kind person can point me in the right direction, or mention some tools I could use to diagnose any problems I'd be very grateful.
(at the moment I've disabled the onboard lan and gone back to my pci card but would rather use the onboard lan if I can get it working).
tia
badday.
