Hi, I've got Mandrake 8.0 running on both my laptop and desktop and I want to get them talking and linked up so as i can swap files between them.I haven't got a home network but I do have a null modem cable which should work BUT - I don't know how to set up or what programs to use.Can someone help or point me in the right direction please?

You should be able to establish a PPP connection between the machines. Then, you will have a home network, though a little slow...

man pppd
