Red face NT DC & Linux Clients

Hello Linux World!!!!!

Well, for starters i'm a newbie and i'm just getting the hang of linux. So far everything seems to be going just fine except for one small detail.

We have installed linux ( Mandrake 9.2 ) on a trial base at our work place. We have a Windows 2000 netwok in native mode ( And a Domain of course! ).

The problem i'm having is that i cannot get samba to talk with the NT network properly. DNS is fine, Internet is fine and frankly almost everything else is running smooth exept for samba.

Since i'm new to this i checked out a large number of newsgroups and user forums and man How-To's but the furthest i could go was to add the linux box to the domain. Now i can see my linbox in windows 2000 active directory users and computers under the computers container.

What i really would like to do is to get linux to :

allow users from from the NT domain to log on localy ( The same way users log on into 2000 pro machines )

be able to browse all Windows shares on the network. ( right now i cannot connect to any windows machine using smb:// or lan:/ )

be able to print to printers connected to windows print servers.

If some one could point me to a some sort of detailed step by step guide to samba or something like that it would be really great.

Other than this issue with samba, i think that i should be able to get rid of my windows 2000 servers completely in the near future!!!

Thanks for all your help in all the thread's on this site and others dedicated to the Real OS !!! LINUX.

Thanks.

Dilshad

P.S.

Something i realized while i was browsing all those how-to's and forum's is that what i am trying to my network is the other way around. What i really should be doing is putting up a linux server and windows clients. That day will come soon. For now i need to get comfortable with Linux ( and make sure i don't bring my network down!!!!)
