Notebook running router software and an Linux Desktop simultaneously

Hello people,

I am going to use my old ACER notebook as a custom homebrew router.
But:

I also want the ability to use the notebook-router for normal purpous like surfing the web or sending email.

How do I manage that???

Was thinking of an normal Desktop/GUI of Tinycore-linux as desktop and for routing/networking tasks an openWRT installation or DD-WRT..

Can it be done? And how?

Anything you can do with DD-WRT or openWRT can also be done with Tinycore. You'll just need to set up iptables to do the routing.

Never even thought of that.. You mean adding some packages and set up iptables, and that wil let my laptop do what I want him to?

That easy?

Ty

(not realy easy to do the setup but the concept is)

Yes, set up the programs for the web, mail, and everything. Then configure iptables for a bridge on one or more Ethernet interfaces.
