not able to resolve name


i am using windows network, and i have fedora4
i use dhcp to get ip and dns information.
i am able to get ip but not able to resolve name
we are using two dns server.
i put their ip in resolv.conf but its not working.

in windows os i use two WINS server ip in network configuration, where sud i put those entry in linux.

and one thing else we use http proxy for browsing internet and intranet.

please help me out

you may need to enable DNS on your router/modem

hi dear
well i am on lan.and i am able to do the thing on winxp fine.but the problem is on fedora4.i think everything is fine on network and dns is running fine on network since i am able to resolve name on winxp

help me

Check out your /etc/hosts has a entry for your loopback.
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost

Also tell me wht are you getting your local domain name as even if you are not getting it from DNS server???

Over to your DNS server you must have correct entry for your machine IP for forward & reverse lookup, Do checkup that also.
