not able to connect


Hi all

I have a static ip given by isdn provider with a gateway i have configured my linux

but when i restart the machine i need to config again to connect to network

I use the command as follows

ifconfig eth0 down
ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.1 up
route add 192.168.0.1 eth0
route add default gw 192.168.0.1 eth0

then only i am able to connect to net

can any one suggest to make this default when i boot my machine

what's your distrobution?

basically you need either run a network set up utility or alter these settings manually, so that dhcp client is not enabled and the details you mention are entered instead.

i am familiar with Slackware and debian based distros. What are you using? (the config files are in different places).

Alternatives google - "set static ip <your distro name>"
