Noob attempt at running SUSE Linux 10 as DHCP/DDNS/NFS/Samba Server

Hi there,
i am a complete Linux noob, desperately trying to break the Micro$$$ apron strings.

after a bit of a search through the many available distros, i settled on downloading SUSE Linux 10 (Eval), as it appeared to be most highly regarded by most seasoned users... and could be run as a workstation or even a full-featured server platform. (so i could hopefully replace both Windows on the desktop and on the servers)

after a few test installs on an old PC, and backing all the data up from my (Eval licenced) Win2K home server, i blew it away  and put in disk #1

on the first attempt, my line of thought was that i had no need for flash front ends (KDE/Gnome) as all i wanted was a File/Print Server, and DHCP/DDNS... so i went for 'minimal graphics'... it was only when i started to 'play' with the installation that i realised i was WELL out of my depth, when i had to start installing extra bits for the services i 'thought' i needed.... so i added KDE and a plethora of fancy tools... and still couldn't get it all to come together.....

still none the wiser, i went surfing for howto's, and found an absolute ton of stuff - most of which was wheat, and not much chaff.... TOO much Wheat!!

one of the main things i have gleaned, is that in my quest for Dynamic DNS and DHCP, i have to also muck around with LDAP (openLDAP) Server...
(also a building block towards getting Samba running?!?)

i have blown my installation away again, and started from scratch, selecting KDE, and all the YAST2 configureable network Server components i believe that i need.... however, i am at a loss with finding a YAST2-LDAP-SERVER...

... i have found a link which suggests that it is available in "Novell SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9 for x86 Service Pack 2", but i don't have 'enterprise'....
www{dot}novell{dot}com/products/linuxpackages/enterpriseserver/SP2/i386/yast2-ldap-server.html

there is also a reference to "/suse/noarch/yast2-ldap-server-2.9.17-0.2.noarch.rpm", but i cannot find a YAST repository which has this rpm...

i would be very grateful if someone could point me in the direction of an installable YAST2-LDAP-SERVER rpm and/or a "complete idiot's guide to setting up DHCP / Dynamic DNS and Samba on a SUSE Linux 10 Server" (not to be too specific ;) )

many thanks for your patience with Yet Another :newbie: n00b

Regards,
Rob.
