noFTP acces via Internet on Debian 3.0 box on a LAN network with Netgear rp614 router
hi,
I have a problem accessing my Debian 3.0 PC from the internet via FTP, telnet or SSH. The Debian PC is on a LAN network with a Netgear rp614 router as a DHCP server. The router has been configured for port forwarding for FTP (port 21), SSH (port 22) and telnet (port 23). These services work fine on the LAN network, but from outside I get a time-out when establishing the connection (from a WinXP PC), ie. it seems to connect but times out before the login prompt comes up. This happens for all three services. I'm not sure if this is a problem of the router configuration or the Debian machine. has anyone come across such a problem? thanks, Ferry |
I had a problem trying to forward port 80. My ISP blocks certain ports and 80 was one of them. Ask your ISP if they are raping you of these ports. :D

The problem turned out to be the NIC driver, using a different one solved the problem.
Thanks again for your help. |
