Question No SUPPORT FOR LINUX FROM BIG POND

I am running Xandros 3.OC and trying to connect to Big Pond broadband internet (in Australia). Big Pond provide no support for Linux and I am unable to login to get an internet connection. Xandros does recognise the modem with both USB and card. Big Pond provides Windows software for windows users. Does anyone know how to connect in this situation? I am desperate as I am currently using Windows XP as a server to connect through a LAN and I want to get rid of it.

I thought there were only two kinds of broadband connections: those that don't need a username/password (line always open) and those that need a username/password (probably need a "dialing software". I'd use rp-pppoe for the latter. I don't think the broadband has anything to do with the OS you're using, just the ethernet card you use needs drivers (probably) and maybe you need a dialer software (like rp-pppoe).

Mmmm - I wouldn't use bigpond if Telstra were the only ISP left.

Can't see how the client should make any difference. Once you have the router setup, you presumably should be able to use it as a DHCP server.
A quick search of the net should show how to get at the router - maybe something like this might get you going.
