Angry No Routing table in debian

I recently upgraded my debian kernel to 2.6.6 and now I can no longer access anything outside of the box. I have an eth0 device. But the "route" command shows no routing table.

My router shows no connection from the box on the dhcp table.

Please help me! What could the problem be?

Could be quite a few things have gone bad..

Does your network card appear in lspci
Is there a net module loaded, do lsmod
Do depmod -a and make sure the kernel build was completed successfully
Depending on how you did your upgrade, have a look at /usr/src/linux/.config and make sure the Networking options are Y or M correctly..

The card is installed properly, and shows up in lspci.
lsmod and depmod both give me an error, that escapes me at the moment, I'll have to update this when I can quote it.
