No Routing Needed


I have 2 NICs in my pc. 192.168.1.10(eth0-default gw) and 192.168.2.10(eth1). The routing is done by a cisco router. The problem is that when I ping my pc in eth1 from 192.168.178.1.0/24 network I get no response.

All that I want is that connections made in eth1 will use eth1, no matter if the connections is made from 192.168.1.0 network.

My current routing table is

Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface
192.168.1.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth0
192.168.2.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth1
link-local * 255.255.0.0 U 0 0 0 eth0
loopback * 255.0.0.0 U 0 0 0 lo
default 192.168.1.1 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 eth0

You need to enable ip forwarding at the kernel level. I believe you do “sysctl net.ipv4.ip_forward=1”

ip forwarding is already enabled.

where is 192.168.178.1.0/24? how does your cisco router fit in to the topology?
