Hello,
Im doing something realy stupid on a new server, and it will not resolve! My network settings are pasted bellow. It will respond to a ping, i can access it using ssh. The nameserver IP's are correct and working! Gateway ip is correct and working.

HOSTNAME=server.my-domain.tld
GATEWAY=10.5.2.254
In /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
Quote:
DEVICE=eth0
BOOTPROTO=static
BROADCAST=10.5.2.255
HWADDR=00:15:60:0E:C5:96

# ps -A | grep sshd
2996 ? 00:00:00 sshd
27138 ? 00:00:00 sshd
27140 ? 00:00:00 sshd

ssh works fine! Its resolving that fails!

Do you mean that DNS resolution from that machine, i.e. dig www.google.com, fails? If you can ping the DNS servers from that machine, then the problem may be the firewall.

Yes, dig on that mashine does fail. And it will not let me ping the DNS servers, but all the other mashinse on the network will let me ping them. Firewall is below:

Quote:
; <<>> DiG 9.2.4 <<>> mx google.co.uk
;; global options: printcmd
;; connection timed out; no servers could be reached
Fire Wall: (default from setup)

Quote:
*filter
:INPUT ACCEPT [0:0]
:FORWARD ACCEPT [0:0]
:OUTPUT ACCEPT [0:0]
:RH-Firewall-1-INPUT - [0:0]
-A INPUT -j RH-Firewall-1-INPUT
-A FORWARD -j RH-Firewall-1-INPUT
-A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -i lo -j ACCEPT
-A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -p icmp --icmp-type any -j ACCEPT
-A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -p 50 -j ACCEPT
-A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -p 51 -j ACCEPT
-A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -p udp --dport 5353 -d 224.0.0.251 -j ACCEPT
-A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -p udp -m udp --dport 631 -j ACCEPT
