no new ip after installing new DSL-modem

Hi,

I have buyed a new modem afther the other one died. Now the DHCP ranges and the Modem IP are diferent from the old one, Thats not a big problem, but the problem is the Redhat 9 Server who gives me the folowing error:

--------------------------
Failed to activate interface :

Nagaan van IP informatie voor eth0...PING 10.0.0.2 (10.0.0.2) 56(84) bytes of data.

--- 10.0.0.2 ping statistics ---
3 packets transmitted, 0 received, +2 errors, 100% packet loss, time 2016ms
, pipe 2
failed
----------------------------

10.0.0.2 is the IP of the OLD modem thast replaced. I have tryed everything but still he wants an IP from 10.0.0.2 but the new modem is 192.168.1.254

some one has any idea how to solve this? Changing the modem-IP is not an option because the modem doesnt accept that..

plz help asap

greetz

try static ip instead of getting it from dhcp.
run "netconfig" and configure your network. if u have more than 1 interface try "netconfig -d $dev"
$dev: such as eth0 eth1...

--- 10.0.0.2 ping statistics ---

, pipe 2
