No internet on Scientific Linux
Hello, I have recently decided to switch (wild hair, I guess) to Sceintific Linux. After install I decided to connect to the internet to check for updates, etc. However, I am unable to connect. After some investigation, I received an error message telling me that:
cannot connect because dhclient.conf is running What on Earth does this mean... running? It's not open, or corrupt. Not sure how to eliviate this. Any suggestions? ~~archery~~ |
It probably means that the DHCP client daemon is trying to acquire an IP from a server. Does your installation have a DHCP server configured to provide an IP to this new workstation? If not, you should set up with a static IP. You can manually modify the scripts in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts, or use the GUI tool system-config-network to do this.
Have you run /sbin/ifconfig to see the state of your network interface(s)? --- rod. |
