I am trying to connect my linux box with 2 nics, to 2 seperate networks for the first time but its not working.
I set the IP on eth1 to 192.168.1.6, eth0 points points to a public IP 205.xx.xx.xx, but I am unable to ping another server on the private network, 192.168.1.5. The gateway on that network is 192.168.1.1.
My gateway in /etc/sysconfig/network is set to 205.xx.xx.1
I also try running:
route add -net 192.168.1.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 gw 192.168.1.1
well you can't have a gateway to a locally connected network, that is by definition illogical - you're already there. can we see the output of ifconfig please?
