nntp question

Does anyone know if the nntp daemon needs to be active or if port 119 needs to be open for users running windows outlook to download internet newsgroups through the linux gateway box?

If so, how would you activate the daemon other than running innd server.

Thanks

Dave

all that you would need to be able to download newsgroups is a way through the firewall. You don't need any servers running.

Port 119 is where the nntp server would run, but if you are retrieving news you are connecting to port 119 not from port 119.
