NIS/NFS Thru or Around Firewall - Suggestions?

I have a nifty little NIS/NFS network running at home. Very pleased with myself. But now I want to be able to access my /home/<myname> environment at work.

Unfortunately, my work environment has a very inflexible firewall policy, and port 111 is definitely closed and staying that way.

So I can think of two ways to go:

1) Go over it. The non-reserved ports (>1024) are mostly open on the firewall. So is there a way to tell my NFS/NIS client stuff to call my home system on a different port? (I can't find anything in the man pages so far.)

2) Go through it. Perhaps there's a way to NFS/NIS over SSH? I've seen some talk about trying that, but no solutions posted anywhere.

Or is there an even better, third solution I haven't thought of?

(For what difference it makes, all my machines are Redhat 9.0.)

Thanks in advance,
Jefficus

If you just need file access, try setting up sshd on port 22 and home and then use WinSCP/Konqueror/some other SCP client.

Actually, I already have a fully functional ssh connection between the two sites.

What I want to do is mount my home directory using NFS and also use NIS account management so that I can seamlessly log into the same account and home file system regardless of what machine I'm on. Much more effective than trying to keep two separate userhome environments in synch.
