NIC need to be reconfigured @ every boot up (by New Connection)

I'm having a weird problem. I have 2 NICs, eth0 and eth1. For some reason, eth1 would disappear from my ifconfig list after every reboot. I would have to go to Network&Internet>NewConnectio to reconfigure that nic. Start on boot has always been check. And I've tried switching nic, but the problem remains. So I'm pretty sure that it's not the nic that's malfuntioning.

Please, any help would be much appreciated. Thank you very much.

Hi Ray,

I had a similar problem that took me a little while to get around with my RedHat install. The things that fixed it for me were:
- Make sure you have the right driver installed for the card (obvious really)
- Make sure that your modules.conf file is loading this driver with the eth card (you can always do dmesg | grep driver_name to see that its loading)
- I ended up renaming all the devices in /etc/sysconfig/networking/devices (ifcfg-eth0_bak etc) so that Linux would have to create a new device from the default profile and it would be clean. If I didnt do this it would just pop back each time.

All the best

Colin
