NIC Configuration and bridge problem

Hello,

I'm using RedHat 9 and got two questions:

1. I try to set up my NICs manually, but there're three ifcfg-eth0 Configuration files:
- "/etc/sysconfig/networking/devices"
- "/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts"
- "etc/sysconfig/networking/profiles/default"

AFAIK is the one in network-scripts the right one, but if I modify the IP there it won't change anything even after a reboot... The other two files seem to be hardlinks (is the a tool to show all hardlinks? I think so - how is it namend?)... A change of the IP there takes effekt! But the /etc/init.d/network script needs the "/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0" to bring the interface up, so I can't delete it although it has no function! Can someone explain me the sense?!

Another Problem is that I like to set up a bridge with eth0 and wlan0 using the networkscript... so I wrote a startscript to configure the bridge and a ifcfg-br0 configuration file to bring this device up! The Problem is the start order... if I run the bridgeconfiguration before /etc/init.d/network it complains about not existing wlan0... in the other order /etc/init.d/network complains about missing br0... is there any solution for that Problem? Or is it unusual to bring bridges with /etc/init.d/network up?

Sorry for the bad english and greetings from Germany! ;-)
