how to make my 3Com 905 card work in Gentoo linux build disk installation

i dont know gentoo, but recompiling the kernel usually solves such problems :-)

another was is, try to insmod the module:

insmod 3c905

(that should be the modules name)it shold work.

if it douesnt, look at the error messages (from kernel log) and tell me what it says.

btw: is gentoo cool? :-)

First of all, do you mean 905 or 509? There is a kernel module 3c509 for the 3Com 509. You would type "modprobe 3c509" to load it. I don't know of a 3Com 905 NIC. Loading 3c509, if that is the correct module, will only work if the module is available on the install CD. If it isn't try emailing to the gentoo-user mailing list
