NFS and Jumbo Frames (Application Problem)

Hello,

Linux: ES 4.5 64 Bit OS

I currently have my system set to support jumbo frames. NIC cards and Switch ports set to MTU=9000. Ping tests and file transfers betweem machines are satisfactory.

Now here's the problem. Host machine 'A' is exporting a mount and host machine 'B' is mounting same. From host machine 'B', I can go to the mount point just fine and perfom various functions such as "ls", "cd", etc.. Also within this mount point is an application. Whenever the application is ran from host machine 'B' mount point, the terminal window freezes and nothing can no longer be performed from within the mount point, i.e. "ls", "cd", etc...

My current version of NFS is the default V2 and I haven't performed any modifications. I realize that there are rsize and wsize settings that can be changed but this seems to be more related to NFS performance. Also, when the MTU is set to 1500 everything works perfectly.

Was wondering if anyone had any ideas or experienced similar issues. Thanks.

-Jim

Best guess is that the application is looking for something it needs. It will go looking for it on the remote machine (where ever the app is located). Since the user trying to use the app does not have permissions on that machine, it gets hung.
