Hi again,

If u want to dissable acpi its not enough to just kill the process, you have to give a bootparameter in your grub or lilo.
Try the following:
Boot your computer
when you get the grub or liloscreen type in 'noacpi' and press enter.
Boot and see if it works, oh does somebody has expierince with 'gart' the kernelpatch from nvidia doesnt work here and if i try to compile a other kernel like 2.4.22 with the gart included then i get a compile error and also i need the 2.4.20 because i need it for my promise 376 controller.

BTW, killing APIC also helped.

I used webmin to disable all ACPI processes upon startup, which is considerably easier.
